Our Marine surveys provide a statement of opinion from our professional Master Marine Surveyor and Accident Investigator (MMSAI) about the condition and value of a vessel based on our detailed first-hand inspection.  We survey according to the mandatory standards of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) found in Titles 33 and 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and the Voluntary Standards and Recommended Practices developed by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). As a member of NAVTECH US Surveyors Association (USSA), all of our surveys must meet or exceed the NAVTECH US Surveyors Association (USSA)  Recommended Survey Report content requirements.
COMMON SURVEYS PROVIDED
Pre-Purchase Survey: This is the most comprehensive survey, designed to ascertain as much information as possible without destructive testing so the potential purchaser can make an educated decision regarding a particular vessel. This examination includes an in- and out-of-water examination of the entire hull through visual inspection, mechanical sounding, and moisture measurements/examination and testing of all systems /comprehensive electrical systems testing and sea trial, followed by a comprehensive written report. The Pre-Purchase Survey may also provide an estimate of the vessel’s Fair Market Value (FMV) and an opinion of its condition and replacement cost.  If you are purchasing a boat or yacht, you should always ensure that the purchase agreement and price are contingent upon a satisfactory Marine Survey.

General Condition / Risk Evaluation & Value - This survey inspection is required by most insurance underwriters and is designed to gather sufficient information regarding a vessel’s overall condition. Through visual inspection, a vessel’s structural integrity is ascertained by examining the laminate and framing for moisture content and/or delamination. Visual examination of the vessel’s systems identifies their condition and conformity to the current Code of Federal Regulations and/or voluntary safety standards. Precise identification of all valuable gear and an opinion of the vessel’s fair market value and insurability are always included.  The inspector may reach an opinion of value by applying approved methods, such as current book listings, comparable sale listings, and boats that were previously sold.

Note: This survey can be performed in or out of water as required by the insurance company or finance institution; however, an in-water survey inhibits and/or prevents the ability to examine areas below the waterline.
Draught Survey—This survey provides calculations or studies carried out to record the draft of a cargo vessel. It is a crucial measure to determine the weight in any loading condition, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the vessel's operations.
On/off Hire Survey- Carried out to state the condition of the ship before or after the charter. The purpose is to record deficiencies or damage.
Accident and fire Investigation / Damage Survey- This survey inspection is required by most insurance underwriters, US Coast Guard, or other law enforcement agencies and is designed to gather sufficient information to assess the extent and cause of the damage sustained to the hull, rig, systems, or elsewhere on a vessel and to what extent necessary steps will be required to restore the vessel to its former condition.  The report presents information on the probable causes of the damage, recommendations on repairs, and validates repair estimates for such work.  Occasionally, a surveyor is employed by the boat owner directly to examine out-of-the-ordinary degradation or damage.
